Ode To Mapplethorpe

Inspired by two iconic floral photographs by Robert Mapplethorpe, Ode to Mapplethorpe explores the dialogue between photography and contemporary sculptural design.

Mapplethorpe's renowned black-and-white compositions—characterized by striking contrasts, sculptural precision, and a sensual treatment of flowers—serve as the conceptual starting point for a series of new works.

Rather than simply translating the photographic subject into sculpture, the exhibition examines a fundamental quality shared by both disciplines: the ability to reveal form through light. Shadow, contrast, and material density become sculptural tools that blur the boundary between image and object.
