2026 — Garde Gallery, New York
Light and Clay brings together the artistic practices of Jojo Corväiá and Émilie Lemardeley in a dialogue centred on material, transformation, and memory.

The exhibition juxtaposes Corväiá's ceramic works, developed over more than a decade, with Lemardeley's Posidoni series—bronze sculptures inspired by submerged landscapes, marine vegetation, and the invisible rhythms of underwater ecosystems. Although rooted in different materials, both practices investigate sculpture as an evolving process rather than a fixed form.

At the heart of the exhibition lies a reflection on matter itself. Clay and bronze are not passive materials awaiting form; they possess their own memory, resistance, and transformative potential. Form emerges through a continuous negotiation between intention and material behaviour.

Rather than opposing earth and light, the exhibition reveals them as complementary expressions of the same living process, where sculpture records the slow becoming of matter through time.
