Dryade

2025 — Galerie Philia, Bordeaux, France

With Dryades, Émilie Lemardeley explores the enduring relationship between mythology, nature, and material transformation. Inspired by the forest nymphs of Greek mythology, the sculptures combine blown glass and bronze to evoke forms suspended between emergence and metamorphosis.

Throughout the exhibition, bronze carries memory while glass captures light, establishing a dialogue between permanence and fragility. Rooted in the traditions of European craftsmanship yet resolutely contemporary, the sculptures draw equally from Art Nouveau, classical mythology, and the observation of natural processes.

The figure of the Dryad becomes less a mythological character than a way of thinking about our relationship with the living world. Nature is understood not as a collection of objects but as a continuous movement of becoming, where every form remains open to transformation.
